The CONCA toilet bowl and toilet seat and its ‘brothers’

The CONCA toilet bowl and toilet seat 🚽 and its ‘brothers’

  Postato da:
We have seen the Conca toilet and its covers in several posts. This toilet is so legendary for its shape and features that it deserved to be analysed. We have seen in the post ”The toilet seat CONCA. Find out which product is perfect for the Ideal Standard toilet (the final version)” all the features that the perfect toilet seat for the Conca toilet must have. We have talked about some specific features in these posts: “Ideal Standard toilet seats and sanitaryware old models (part 1)”, “Sanitaryware rectangular shapes. Why do all toilet seats for this toilet look the same?“, “White as white can be! So, why is white different in Ideal Standard sanitaryware?”, “The colours of sanitaryware and toliet seats: green, pink, light blue, blue, brown…(part 2)”, “Sanitarywares with a raised top. WC seat with 45° fixing hinges (part 1)”, “Why are sloping bumpers needed on some WCseats? (part 2)”. All these features have left such a deep impression on the bathroom market that it has led all Ideal Standard‘s competitors to propose a series of “Conca” type sanitaryware! Let’s take a look at some of these models, which, by the way, are regularly mistaken for the Conca toilet, but which have some different features or details.

Ceramica Globo CLIO vase

Given the incredible success that the Conca series was having on the market, many companies in the sector competing with Ideal Standard took inspiration from its shape, at least for its time, very modern and particular and tried to compete with the legend. Almost all the companies began to produce a sanitary ware that was practically equal in size to the Conca. One of these companies, specifically Ceramica Globo, decided to use the same shape, but with a modification to the wheelbase. We often hear customers asking for the Conca toilet seat with 18 cm centre distance. It doesn’t exist! But there is the Globo Clio WC seat which is similar to the Conca but with a specific centre distance. Here are the links to the Globo section in our shop where you can easily find spare parts for the Clio model! [ clik HERE ]

Serie AERO Ideal StandardAERO series by Ideal Standard

Here we remain in the Ideal Standard family. We can see it as the evolution of the species. It is the true heir of Conca. Always produced by Ideal Standard. In the bathroom this ceramic series was considered the Lux version of Conca. It was called Aero. Its larger dimensions and lighter corners give it a style all of its own. However, it is often mistaken for the Conca toilet. It was presented with a wrap-around thermoset toilet seat which gave the toilet a fantastic and very futuristic (for those times) design. Unfortunately this toilet seat cover, which was always in our catalogue, sold out a couple of years ago (2017) and is no longer available. Such an important toilet didn’t deserve just any toilet seat cover adapted in some way, we made a dedicated version in white polyester coated wood tailored perfectly for the toilet. You can see it at the following link [ clik HERE ]

Serie DUCCIO Ceramiche SenesiDUCCIO series by Ceramiche Senesi

Among the many competitors and imitators of Conca, we have chosen: Duccio. The shape is similar and the inspiration is the same, but in this case, Senesi‘s master ceramists have made a little creative effort. The whole surface is not raised, but only the points where the toilet seat is to be anchored are inclined at 45°. Once the toilet seat is mounted, the solution has a nice effect, the toilet seat seems to be suspended above the toilet seat. The Duccio toilet seat covers in white and all official colours can be found at the following link [ clik HERE ]

Sanitari POLO Ceramica Catalano (sanitari rettangolari)POLO sanitaryware Ceramica Catalano (rectangular sanitaryware)

It is still often mistaken for the Ideal Standard Conca toilet seat, but this toilet seat was instead produced by Catalano and was called Polo. Many customers go to shopping centres, maybe even show the photo to the non-expert employee, and take home the Conca toilet seat. When they assemble it, they realise that the centre distance of this toilet seat is a good 20 cm! In order not to make a mistake when buying the toilet seat, we leave you the link to the store (colour white [ clik HERE ]) and (champagne colour [ clik HERE ]).

Serie ADDA Facis GSIADDA series by Facis GSI

We close this article with an old Facis (now GSI) series with a rectangular shape, now also out of production, called Adda. Today, even among insiders, it is often mistaken for the Conca series, but if you look at it closely you can see that although it also has a raised rear surface, the toilet seat is fixed on the lower flat part. So it doesn’t need an inclined hinge. You can find the Adda toilet seats both in the white and champagne colours at the following link [ clik HERE ]
We started to see some of the “brothers” / competitors of Conca, over time they have been produced so many, if you have in your bathroom a sanitary with this shape, but you are not sure and you still have doubts about which toilet seat to buy just send us an email to info@sintesibagno.it or a WhatsApp message to 3341288978 with two pictures of your sanitary and a few measures and we will be able to help you in your choice. Here is the video on how to proceed in the search for the toilet seat:
