Pozzi Ginori production in the 90s

Pozzi Ginori production in the 90s. Pre-artistic director Citterio and after the success of Italo, Square, Italica, Piemontesina

  Postato da:
We have already met several times this fantastic company that has written the history of sanitary ceramics and bathroom furnishings since the early ‘900s. As a company, it too has had phases of great splendour and some less shining moments, but we can nevertheless say that it has always been there. Its year zero has us (even though its productions date back many years earlier) like to make it start with the birth of MONTEBIANCO. We described it well in the post: ”And then comes ‘Montebianco’ Classic/antique sanitary ware and their toilet seats” where we saw that his design was created by Guido Andlovitz as far back as 1925 and all the ceramic series he later inspired. He came of age (in a commercial and productive sense) when he met ANTONIA CAMPI. Perhaps the most florid creative period, in the post: ”Antonia CAMPI. The incredible Lavenite, Richard Ginori and Pozzi Ginori sanitary ware series designed by her and their toilet seat covers.” we have seen series of sanitary ware and their incredible toilet seats: TORENA, SQUARE, CONCHIGLIA, TABOR and IPSILON. Also from the ’70s is the sanitary production of hits such as ITALICA, ITALO DUO and PIEMONTESINA we saw it in the post: ”Pozzi Ginori sanitaryware old square models. Square, Italica and Italo duo which toilet seat cover is correct?” Then we took a big leap (we are talking about twenty years) and arrived at the mature and shining age of meeting ANTONIO CITTERIO. We dedicated no less than three posts to this period: ”Antonio Citterio and the association with Pozzi-Ginori. Legendary ceramic series and their toilet seats.” , “Pozzi Ginori sanitaryware: the series of the modern era and their covers. (part 1)” and “Pozzi Ginori sanitaryware: the series of the modern era today and their toilet covers. (part 2)” and we discovered that from the end of the first decade of the 2000s there was a production of best-sellers that reached the golden age of the ’70s and ’80s. One after another came to light: EASY, JOIN NEW, JOIN OLD, 500, 900, Citterio, EGG and Q3. In the intermediate phase, which in terms of time we place between the late ’80s and early 2000s, Pozzi Ginori produced many other series that we will now discover.

LINEA series by Pozzi GinoriSerie LINEA Pozzi Ginori

The refined class of this sanitary ware called Linea is due to the designer: Gae Aulenti. In this series by Pozzi Ginori called Linea (never has the name been more apt), we start with the oval shape of the top and then play with ‘voids and solids’ in the body of the sanitary ware that design it with a very logical style giving it full formal harmony. It was produced in white [ Clik HERE ] and in champagne colour [ Clik HERE ]. If you are looking for a toilet seat in a more modern material and perhaps with slow-motion hinges, you can find it at the following link [ Clik HERE ]

YDRA series by Pozzi GinoriSerie YDRA Pozzi Ginori

Ydra was the best-selling vase of this period for Pozzi Ginori. A modern D-shape characterised by a sanitary body with a special protrusion at the top that gave it formal importance. It was the sanitary ware line that competed with the big competitors on the market at that time: TESI by Ideal Standard and CLODIA by Dolomite. Originally the toilet seat cover for this sanitary ware was offered in white polyester-coated wood, in the final part of its production a thermoset version with a wrap-around cover was introduced (see photo). All Ydra toilet seat covers are available in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ Clik HERE ]

OASI series by Pozzi GinoriSerie OASI Pozzi Ginori

It was the Plus line of that period for the company: Oasi. Born for important bathrooms, rectangular shape with rounded corners, particular is the upper surface that extends backwards beyond the shape of the body, making it unique. On such a particular sanitary ware we suggest, to avoid spoiling the aesthetic line, to mount the toilet seat cover like the original that you can find in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ Clik HERE ]

FANTASIA series by Pozzi Ginori

Serie FANTASIA Pozzi GinoriFantasia is one of Pozzi Ginori’s most successful oval shapes. We rightly talked about it in the post dedicated to this shape: ”The ten most popular oval shapes in sanitaryware ranges. Are all toilet seats the same? Do universal toilet seats fit?” where we also saw some of its competitors: Ceramica Catalano – series LUCE, Ceramica Senesi – series DONATELLO, Hatria Ceramica – series ERIKA and Ceramica GLOBO – series LEI. We described it as follows: “Fantasia by Pozzi Ginori is one of the most beautiful oval series. Simple and stylish at the same time. Typical 80s line (HERE found other series from that glorious period for the bathroom furnishing world), was produced until about a decade ago, now replaced by the new Fantasia 2 version which has taken an almost rectangular shape as we have seen in the post: ”Sanitaryware series have more than one edition/restyling. They change the shapes of the WCs but also the toilet seats. (part 1)Fantasia in the first version that you see in the picture here was very rounded and clearly the upper part designed by a perfect oval. A very popular feature from a formal point of view was the very slight forward inclination that the foot and toilet seat cover gave it. The link to the toilet seat cover for the Fantasia WC (first edition) is at the following link [ Clik HERE ]

COLIBRI’ series by Pozzi GinoriSerie COLIBRI’ Pozzi Ginori

Pozzi Ginori’s mass-market series of that period was called: Colibrì. The company’s creative team created a very special line of sanitary ware (also considering the price-quality ratio). Unlike the competition, whose first-price lines all kept to basic shapes in the body that usually supported the typical oval shape, with Colibrì the upper shape becomes drop-shaped (see HERE about this form), a small rise marks it at the top of the body and there is an indentation in the foot of the sanitary ware that lightens its figure. It had a remarkable sales success on the bathroom furniture market. We have several versions of toilet seat covers available for this sanitary fitting and you can find them at the following link [ Clik HERE ]

IDEA suspended series by Pozzi Ginori

Serie IDEA sospesa Pozzi GinoriA series of sanitary ware presented only in the suspended version. As we have seen in the section dedicated to this type of sanitary ware: ”Toilet seat for wall-hung sanitary ware” The success and spread of wall-hung sanitary ware is a fairly recent thing. Leading this statement is certainly: Series ALA Ideal Standard. Idea recalls the style (also from that period), but gives it its own formal interpretation. We have the toilet seat cover available as the original in the store at the following link [ Clik HERE ]
Today we have discovered other ceramic series from Pozzi Ginori. Perhaps you have found your toilet and are able to buy the right and precise toilet seat cover for your toilet without making a mistake. However, if you are still in doubt about which toilet seat cover to look for for your wc in the bathroom, we suggest you send us an e-mail to info@sintesibagno.it or a WhatsApp message to 3341288978 with two pictures of your sanitary fitting and a few measurements and we will be able to help you choose. Here is the video on how to go about finding a toilet seat cover:
