Legendary sanitaryware.

Legendary sanitaryware. They create shapes, styles and colours then sought after by all. We find the toilet covers for these iconic toilets 🚽 (part 1)

  Postato da:
Today we discover some bathroom fittings that were the start of many styles and trends later pursued by all competitors. Looking at the history of bathroom furniture over the last 40/50 years, we will also realise how the bathroom has and has often been influenced by the world around it. The shapes, colours, positioning (floor, wall-hung, flush) of sanitary ware has been changing since the 1970s and 1980s and is still changing today. Every time we think that designers have nothing more to offer us, there is the new design that makes all the previous ones ‘old’ and taken for granted, and we are surprised like children when they first discover presents under the Christmas tree. We will dwell on the sanitary ware that has opened up a new path, a new conceptual thought from an architectural point of view, perhaps over time the competition has even improved and made the initial idea more appealing, but today we want to reward the pioneers!

ALA series by Ideal Standard – The suspended seriesSerie ALA Ideal Standard - la serie sospesa

It is the series of sanitary ware that made suspended sanitary ware popular in the ’80s. We have seen in the post: ”Wall-hung sanitary ware and their covers (part 1)” the history and why wall-hung toilets became popular fairly recently. It was such an innovative product for its time that a very special toilet seat was also made: the lid was narrower than the donut and made the product unmistakable. We have the old original Ala toilet seat available in the Sintesibagno store and you can find it at the following link [ Clik HERE ]. Very important is in the white Ideal Standard colour, the official colour of the period (if you do not know this Ideal Standard colour at the following link [ Clik HERE ]

SQUARE series by Pozzi Ginori – The champagne colour

Square Pozzi Ginori champagne-coloured WC SQUARE is a sanitaryware series that is legendary for many reasons. We have seen in the post: ”Pozzi Ginori sanitaryware old square models. Square, Italica and Italo duo which toilet seat cover is correct?” as along with ITALICA and ITALO DUO thanks to these ceramic series, the company became the market leader in the ’70s and ’80s. Today we do not focus on the shape, but on the colour. The champagne version of this sanitary ware is the reason for its appearance on the market and its widespread use in bathrooms of this colour of sanitary ware and toilet seat covers. You can find its champagne coloured toilet seat cover in the store at the following link [ Clik HERE ]

LINDA series by Ideal Standard – The elongated oval shape

So innovative that it could not fail to have been designed by one of the masters of Italian design: Achille Castiglioni (here the post dedicated to him). Year 1977: in addition to the introduction of a new material vitreous china, the shape of the elongated oval was devised, which opened up a new formal path later pursued by all competing ceramic companies. All Linda toilet seat covers, in all colours: EU white, Ideal Standard white, champagne, blueberry, backdrop blue, mink, whisper green, whisper pink and also in the new thermosetting plastics (also soft-close with slow motion hinges) are available in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ Clik HERE ]

DECO’ series by Cesame – The hexagonal shapeSerie DECO’ Cesame - la forma esagonale

The most famous hexagonal sanitary ware shape is this series by Cesame called: Decò. After her came ceramic series that are still best sellers today, see 1930 by Duravit. In the post: ”Octagonal and hexagonal sanitaryware and toilet seat covers” we have seen almost every series of sanitary ware with this geometric shape. In addition to 1930 by Duravit, we have seen the series Classic by Absolute Ideal StandardCanova mono and Royal by Globo Ceramica. All toilet seat covers for this Cesame series: the original version (also with gold hinges) and the dedicated version can be found in the store at the following link [ Clik HERE ]

FROZEN series by Simas – The rectangular shapeSerie FROZEN Simas - la forma rettangolare

Rectangular shaped WCs have been produced throughout the history of the bathroom furniture world. In several posts we have seen many: in ”Sanitaryware rectangular shapes. Why do all toilet seat covers for this toilet look the same?” (we focused on EBLA by Dolomite, TERRA by Flaminia, SPACE STONE by Ceramica Globo and OUTLINE by Althea) in “Older, discontinued models of sanitaryware with a rectangular toilet seat. (part 2)” (we focused on CIOTTOLO by Flaminia, FIESTA by Catalano, HIDRA by Hidra Ceramiche and ADDA by Facis GSI. What is the special and unique feature of Frozen? Just look at the picture opposite. The corners of the sanitary ware in this series are calibrated at 90° with a manufacturing perfection that is almost impossible for a ceramic product. The ultimate culmination of Italian craftsmanship. In the bathroom sector, when it comes to square/rectangular sanitary ware, the benchmark is this series produced by Simas. It could only be called Frozen. The WC seats for this sanitary ware (both the thermoset and the white polyester-coated wood versions) can be found in the store at the following link [ Clik HERE ]

Ideal Standard and the colours of sanitary ware: whispers (pink, light blue, green, grey), blueberry and fernIdeal Standard e i colori dei sanitari: i sussurati (rosa, azzurro, verde, grigio), il mirtillo e il felce.

We now turn to another special feature of sanitary ware. While Pozzi Ginori’s Square series popularised the colour champagne, Ideal Standard sanitary ware (in particular CONCAELLISSETESIVELARA and LIUTO) brought to success the colours you see in the image opposite: whisper pink, whisper blue, whisper green, whisper grey, blueberry blue and fern green. In the post: ”Sanitaryware colours and toilet seat covers: green, pink, blue, brown…(part 2)” we have tried to describe them as best as possible to help you choose the correct toilet seat, which is complicated digitally. In the Sintesibagno.shop you can find all the original colours of the Ideal Standard toilet seats at the following link [ Clik HERE ]
